Director's Cut Part 2
And here it is! Last week I talked about how I was re-editing the first two tourist vs expat videos to get subtitled and put on bilibili. I also mentioned I was thinking about putting the edit of ‘The Map’ up on YouTube as well but I wasn't sure when. Well here it is!
I only made light edits to the video itself. We didn’t film all that much extra footage. We usually don’t but this one had even less. Plus I originally edited the video in iMovie and I don’t have the project anymore, so adding or removing things or changing the speed would have been difficult because I couldn’t do that separately from the audio. I would have had to basically remake the video from scratch in FinalCut. There were a couple of parts that I did manage to change a little but the main change to the video was the addition of fight sounds.
The original video doesn’t have any. I hadn’t thought of it when I was making the video but once you realize they aren’t there it’s really weird. So I added some. I think it makes the fight much better. The beginning is still really rough. We had literally no idea what we were doing. But once the fight starts I think the addition of the sounds makes the video much better overall. I also managed to find some bloopers to add. I started adding bloopers in the second fight and thought they were really good so I was happy I could find some for this video too.
I don’t think I’ll re-upload ‘The Café,’ which is the second fight. There’s not as much I can change, other than the intro and maybe making the audio a little louder. I still might but there’s not as much difference between what’s already there and what I can change as there was with ‘The Map.
I had a lot of fun revisiting my very first fight video. Rewatching a whole bunch of times makes me really appreciate how far I’ve come with some of my recent fight videos and gets me really excited to make some more.
