Malaysia Wrap-up
I hope everyone enjoyed the Malaysia posts. Here’s a quick list of some of the stuff we saw and ate while we were in Malaysia.
Kuala Lumpur
To eat
Noodles on Petaling St - We had noodles twice on Petaling Street and both times they were great.
Anything you want on Jalan Alor St - It’s an entire street of food. Go and take your pick, then people watch while everyone else does the same thing.
Lucy in the Sky - A little cafe we stopped at one afternoon while waiting for our Grab
To see
Petronas Twin Towers - Maybe the most well known landmark in Malaysia
KL Tower - Not too far from the Petronas Twin Towers
Petaling St - Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown. Lots of stuff you can buy and good, inexpensive food.
Kuala Lumpur station - Cool looking train station
KL Sentral - Transportation hub you’ll probably need to know if you go anywhere from Kuala Lumpur
KTM berhad building - Another cool building across from Kuala Lumpur Station
Mahamarianman Temple - Old Hindu temple in the city
National Mosque - Large mosque near the Perdana Botanical Gardens. Some of it is open to tourists.
Perdana Botanical Gardens - Leisure area with lots of stuff to see, including bird and butterfly parks.
Cenotaph - Monument to those who died fighting for Kuala Lumpur near the gardens.
National Monument - Statue honoring the dead next to the Cenotaph
Sultan Abdul samad building - Government building that looks pretty cool (lots of cool buildings here)
Batu Caves - Religious caves north of Kuala Lumpur
Dark Cave - Undeveloped cave at the Batu Caves with rare fauna. 33 ringgit entry
George Town
To eat
Teksen Restaurant - Supposed to be a great Chinese restaurant. Too many people when we went to wait though
Street food - Speaks for itself.
Bistro Tang - A cafe we went to one morning. The ice cream brownie is excellent
To see
Protestant Cemetery - Resting place for some important figures in George Town
Cenotaph - Monument near Esplanade Park
Fort Cornwallis - 18th century British Fort near Esplanade Park
Chew Jetty - Wooden houses jutting out over the ocean where Chinese immigrants once lived
Street Art - It’s all over the place and awesome
City Hall and Town Hall - Government buildings by Esplanade Park and the Cenotaph
Pangkor
To eat
I…didn’t get the names of any restaurants we went. I’m sorry. I’ll do better next time
To see
Beaches - Because it’s an island
Pangkor Town - Town where most of the locals live. Escape the beaches or grab some food
Dutch Fort - Remains of a Dutch fort from when they were trading tin
Fu Lin Gong Temple - Temple with a small replica of the Great Wall
Masjid Terapung - Cool mosque built out over the water
Beaches - Because that’s really why you go to Pangkor
Hopefully this helps someone find something interesting to do and ’m sorry there isn’t more info. Going forward I’m going to try to note down more when we travel. I you haven’t read the other posts yet check them out below.
